COVID-19 Mental Health and Addiction Support Line Beginning July 13, 2020

COVID-19 Mental Health and Addiction Support Line Beginning July 13, 2020 Shawnee can provide after- hours counseling and support to residents in Adams, Lawrence, and Scioto Counties beginning July 13,2020 thanks to a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and assistance from the Alcohol-Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Adams, Lawrence, and Scioto Counties.. This support line is staffed by licensed counselors and social workers that can provide telephone crisis intervention and counseling. Many people have experienced increased anxiety and depression because of the COVID-19 pandemic and shelter in place orders, so Shawnee has implemented this after hours and weekend service and is offering it to anyone experiencing emotional distress. This service can be used by current Shawnee clients and by those that are not Shawnee clients. We understand that front line health workers and first responders may need to utilize this confidential support line given the additional stress they have experienced during this crisis. If you or someone you know could benefit from this additional support, please call the support line at 740-355-8696 after five, on weekends, and holidays. You will be immediately connected with a mental health professional that can offer a wide array of mental health services over the phone, including screening for substance use issues, counseling to address suicidal thoughts, counseling to help you cope with a stressful situation, or to provide information on other available community resources. All Shawnee clinic locations are open five days a week for anyone needing assistance during business hours. Anyone calling one of the main clinic numbers after closing (and not the support line referenced above) will be transferred to the answering service who will be able to provide assistance with connecting to the support line when needed.
