Shawnee has new No Show policy

Shawnee Family Health Center No Show and Cancellation Policy Effective March 3, 2014, if you do not come to a scheduled appointment or do not call us at least 24 hours prior to the appointment to cancel then you will be listed as “not showing” for the appointment or as a failed appointment.

Examples of failed appointments include:

  • Appointment is at 3:00 PM but you call to cancel the same day
  • Appointment is at 3:00 PM and you do not show for the appointment but call later to cancel

Shawnee is limiting the number of failed appointments to two (2) in a 6 month period.
To help keep clients engaged in treatment, we will contact you by phone after each no-show or late cancelled appointment,. If we cannot reach you by phone we will send you a letter.

If you no show (or do not call 24 hours in advance to cancel) for two appointments in a 6 month period, we will not be able to reschedule an appointment for you or your family member. Instead, we will send you a letter explaining the need to develop an alternative scheduling plan. If after receiving the letter you do not contact us within 10 days to discuss a plan, then we will assume that you are no longer interested in services of any kind and will close your file.

Alternate Scheduling Options Include:

  • Same-day appointments – you can call and ask to see the service provider that day and if the provider has an opening we will give you the opening. If the service provider has no openings that day, then you would simply call us the next day to check availability.
  • Level of Care Change – you and your provider can negotiate a change in level of care and needed services.
  • Stopping services – you may no longer be in need of the services we offer.
  • For instance, ongoing weekly therapy may no longer be needed so you may change your treatment plan to meet with your therapist less frequently and continue seeing the doctor or nurse practitioner, or
  • You may only need to receive medical appointments because your symptoms have improved – this will be determined by you and your provider
  • Stopping services – you may no longer be in need of the services we offer. No Show Policy
